Since 2006, Jena has lead creative writing workshops at the Music Camp for Teens. The camp is a cooperatively produced by the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas. All music or poetry interested youth between the ages of 13-18 may attend. The camp is located 9 miles south of Kerrville at Quiet Valley Ranch in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Youth find their own voices while working with award-winning musicians and writers. Since 2008, Jena has been teaching creative writing workshops during the AxBW -Arts by Brykerwoods Elementary School's annual celebration. This March she will lead 4 weeks of workshops followed by the AxBW festival.
April is National Poetry Month. Jena will be leading workshops during Poetry at Roundtop April 12-14.
Jena will be typing poems on the spot at Scholz Beer Garten for a wedding in April. Scholz is the oldest operating business in Texas, since 1886.
May 3rd is the Grand Opening of The Ruby Hotel in historical downtown Roundrock, Texas. Jena will be typing poems for EPIC Entertainment with fellow poet, Derek Hoki.
May 23-June 9 is the 48th Annual Kerrville Folk Festival. Jena will be an emcee on the main stage June 7-9 introducing: Rodney Crowell, Sam Bush, Wood & Wire, Trout Fishing in America, Chris Chandler and many more. Come heal in the wisdom of music, friends and Kerr-family.
